A surge in large scale resort real estate and development threatens the delicate desert and coastal environments of Baja California Sur, Mexico. The Disappearing Landscapes series, seeks to document and memorialize the landscape before it disappears.
Photographs from my two series Disappearing and Altered Landscape are devoid of people, but the presence of the man-made is terrifyingly out of place and based on fantasy rather than an engagement of context. Such architectural imaginaries — are teetering at the edge of absurdity and collapse. This series offers an historical record of development at specific locations and is an archival resource for activist groups that I collaborate with.
